The Old Religion recognised the coming of age of its young as the warrior held his first spear and became the hunter, and the woman birthed her first child and became the Mother. We celebrate these customs today with the 13th, 16th, 18th and 21st birthday markers. These rites are being rediscovered today and the coming of age ceremony is re emerging in society as an integral rite of passage in our children’s lives. Today our children reach their blood and quickening rites at earlier ages and a coming of age gathering can help set them safely on their way through early adulthood with the protection and blessings of the earths energies along with friends and family .
The coming of age rite can give those of age the foundations of the right and wrong way to behave morally within society. We must take the essence of the old ways and help the young adults to absorb them into their ways and social groups.
Teaching them to understand the lessons of their path and to walk their journey with the tools needed to help make the right choices and decisions as the lessons of the soul present themselves
